Republican Says Biden Is Innocent?

During a recent interview with NBC News’ Kristen Welker, Representative Don Bacon, a Republican from Nebraska, emphasized that as per legal analysis conducted by Congress, there hasn’t been a specific criminal act identified in the ongoing impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden. This investigation, spearheaded by House Republicans under the leadership of James Comer from Kentucky and Jim Jordan from Ohio, has been ongoing for over a year. The focus has been on scrutinizing the Biden family’s activities, particularly allegations surrounding Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings during his father’s tenure as vice president under Barack Obama.

Despite persistent claims from House Republicans, the White House has vehemently denied any wrongdoing, with President Biden labeling the impeachment inquiry as a “baseless political stunt.” In the United States, impeachment requires evidence of a high crime or misdemeanor, with the House needing a simple majority to initiate proceedings, followed by a trial in the Senate.

Bacon highlighted during the interview that while significant sums of foreign money have been raised by the Biden family and there have been complex financial maneuvers through various LLCs, such actions do not inherently constitute impeachable offenses.

Welker pressed Bacon on whether it was time to conclude the investigation, to which he responded cautiously, suggesting that they might be nearing the end but stopping short of a definitive conclusion.

The impeachment inquiry, however, has thus far failed to produce substantial evidence to support its allegations. During a recent committee hearing, Representative Jared Moskowitz, a Democrat from Florida, challenged the Republicans to proceed with impeachment if they truly believed they had evidence of wrongdoing. Moskowitz’s motion was met with reluctance from the Republicans, highlighting what he deemed as a lack of substantive evidence to support their claims.

In a recent letter, Comer proposed that President Biden testify before the committee, citing testimonies from individuals like Tony Bobulinski and Jason Galanis, who claimed Biden’s involvement in his son’s business dealings. However, the White House dismissed this invitation as a political maneuver, with spokesperson Ian Sams labeling it as a “sad stunt” at the end of an impeachment effort that lacked credibility.

Meanwhile, as this political drama unfolds, President Biden continues to lead his reelection campaign against former President Donald Trump, who is positioning himself as the presumptive Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential election.
