Kamala’s Popularity To Tank
Rep. Anthony D’Esposito, R-N.Y., expressed skepticism about Vice President Kamala Harris’s current favorable polling numbers during an interview with Newsmax on Monday. D’Esposito described Harris’s high poll standings as “a temporary honeymoon” and suggested that this positive momentum is unlikely to last as voters start scrutinizing her record and her ascent to the Democratic Party’s nomination.
Recent general election polls from sources like CBS News, I&I/TIPP Poll, The Economist/YouGov, Emerson College, and Morning Consult indicate that Harris holds an edge over former President Donald Trump. However, contrasting polls from Rasmussen Reports and The Trafalgar Group show Trump leading.
D’Esposito characterized Harris’s current polling advantage as fleeting, remarking that it represents a “temporary honeymoon, so to speak,” following her campaign launch. He argued that the Democrats remain deeply divided and are currently celebrating the fact that President Joe Biden is not at the forefront of the ticket.
The congressman pointed out that numerous critical questions still loom over the Democratic Party and Kamala Harris, particularly concerning the handling of Biden’s presidency over the past few years. He criticized the Democrats for what he perceives as a significant cover-up regarding Biden’s ability to effectively lead the country.
Furthermore, D’Esposito accused the Democratic Party of disregarding the will of its own voters by not re-nominating Biden despite his victories in every Democratic primary. He noted the irony in the Democrats’ self-proclaimed commitment to inclusion and democracy, arguing that Kamala Harris is poised to become the presidential nominee without having received a single vote in her favor thus far. This, he believes, undermines the integrity of the democratic process and dismisses the legitimate outcomes of the primaries.
