Trump was clearly trolling Biden but the left is still smearing him for this.
In a recent social media post, Hillary Clinton sharply criticized former President Donald Trump’s recent remarks praising Russian President Vladimir Putin for his role in a notable prisoner exchange. This critique emerged after Trump, who is currently a candidate for the Republican nomination in the 2024 presidential election, lauded Putin’s involvement in securing the release of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich and others in a historic deal involving the U.S. and Russia.
During a rally in Atlanta over the weekend, Trump described the prisoner swap as a “great deal,” emphasizing his belief that Putin had achieved a significant diplomatic success. “By the way, I want to congratulate Putin for making another great deal. Did you see the deal we’ve made?” Trump told his supporters. He previously claimed that Putin would not have negotiated the release of Gershkovich for anyone else but himself.
Clinton, who served as Secretary of State and was the Democratic candidate in the 2016 presidential election, took to social media to express her outrage at Trump’s comments. She characterized Trump’s praise of Putin as “traitorous and pathetic,” arguing that it was a blatant endorsement of a dictator known for his oppressive tactics and human rights violations.
“You do not, in fact, have to hand it to Putin,” Clinton insisted in her post, reflecting her disapproval of Trump’s decision to publicly commend an authoritarian leader.
In contrast, Trump’s supporters argue that his praise of the deal reflects his negotiation skills and his ability to handle international relations effectively. They view the prisoner exchange as a positive outcome, demonstrating his capability to secure American interests on the global stage. Meanwhile, the Biden administration, which includes Vice President Kamala Harris as the leading Democratic candidate for the upcoming election, has also framed the swap as a diplomatic victory, reinforcing their position on international diplomacy.
