Trump Rallies His MAGA Base
Former President Donald Trump, in his first press conference since Vice President Kamala Harris announced Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate, expressed strong confidence in the Republican Party’s momentum as the November election approaches. Speaking from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, Trump dismissed concerns about the apparent enthusiasm at Harris’s campaign rallies.
Trump made it clear he was unimpressed by the media’s portrayal of Harris’s rallies. “Let’s be honest,” Trump remarked. “I had a massive turnout of 107,000 people in New Jersey, but you didn’t cover that. Instead, they focus on her having 2,000 people at her events. If my events drew only 2,000, the media would declare my campaign is over. It’s a perfect example of media bias. Just recently, in Michigan, we had 25,000 people, with another 25,000 left outside. In Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, we had 20,000 attendees, with an additional 20,000 unable to get in. These large crowds never get reported. Meanwhile, when Harris draws 1,500 people, the media acts like it’s a big deal. Our enthusiasm far exceeds theirs.”
Trump also confirmed his participation in three upcoming debates: September 4 with Fox News, September 10 with NBC News, and September 25 with ABC News. He indicated that only minor details, such as locations, remain to be settled. “The other side needs to agree to the terms,” he said. “I’m eager for the debates to set the record straight. Kamala Harris has been less than transparent, avoiding interviews and showcasing her lack of competence.”
Regarding Harris’s recent surge in popularity, Trump attributed it to a temporary “honeymoon period” that would end once voters scrutinize her policies more closely. “The initial boost she’s receiving will fade as people focus on her record,” Trump predicted. “She’s had a hand in disastrous policies, from her tenure in California to her mismanagement in San Francisco. Everything she’s been involved with has turned out poorly. Her approach to open borders, defunding the police, and gun control is out of touch with American values. She hasn’t done well with interviews because she struggles to defend these policies. Her campaign’s focus on image rather than substance will not hold up under scrutiny.”
