Does Pelosi know Trump is right? Seems like it.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently criticized former President Donald Trump for his remarks about Vice President Kamala Harris. During an appearance on MSNBC’s “The ReidOut,” Pelosi dismissed Trump’s comments as “pathetic” and indicated she doesn’t take his opinions seriously.
At a press event held at his Mar-a-Lago estate, Trump had disparaged Harris’s capabilities, suggesting she wasn’t intelligent enough to handle a press conference. This criticism comes as Trump’s campaign has increasingly targeted Harris for her reluctance to field questions from the media since launching her campaign last month.
On Thursday, Harris engaged with reporters in Michigan and has expressed a desire to conduct an extended interview before the end of August. Pelosi, however, chose to focus on Harris’s qualifications for the presidency rather than the criticisms directed at her. She emphasized that Harris is a strong candidate for the role, noting that her being a woman adds to her appeal, calling it “icing on the cake.”
Harris has generated significant enthusiasm within the Democratic Party following President Biden’s decision to withdraw from the presidential race. Reports suggest that Pelosi privately supported Biden stepping aside, although she has denied actively pushing for this outcome. In a recent interview, Pelosi clarified her stance, stating, “No, I wasn’t a leader of any pressure party. I didn’t call anyone. I never called anybody. What I am saying is, I believed that the president would make the correct choice for our country, whatever that would end up being, and I said that. ‘Whatever that is, we will go with.’”
Currently, the vice president is in a tight race with Trump, with recent national polls from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ showing Harris trailing Trump by a narrow margin of just 0.2 points.
