Republican Says Democrats Want To Do What?

Rep. Monica De La Cruz recently spoke with Newsmax about the Biden Administration’s handling of illegal immigration, suggesting that their policies are part of a broader strategy to influence the upcoming presidential election. On “Wake Up America,” the Texas Republican expressed her belief that the current administration intentionally left the southern border open, contrasting sharply with the secure border conditions established under President Trump.

De La Cruz asserted that the administration’s lenient approach to border security is not merely an oversight but a calculated move to increase the number of illegal immigrants who might vote in November. She contended that this strategy reveals a lack of confidence in the Democrats’ policy platform and an attempt to leverage illegal immigration for electoral advantage.

The congresswoman highlighted the situation in her own district in South Texas, where the Hispanic population exceeds 90%. She argued that the Biden Administration and Vice President Kamala Harris have misjudged the Hispanic community’s stance on border security and immigration. According to De La Cruz, Hispanics are committed to American values and support a secure border and strong economic growth. Instead, they are witnessing high inflation and an influx of illegal immigrants under the current administration, which she believes is harming their community.

De La Cruz pointed out that even among Democratic voters, Vice President Harris is struggling to maintain the traditional support levels from Hispanic communities. She attributed this shift to a growing disconnect between the values of Hispanic voters and the Democratic Party’s policies. Reflecting on the 2022 election, she noted that her district transitioned from blue to red, signifying a broader realignment among Hispanics towards the Republican Party. This, she argued, represents a significant shift towards a party that champions hard-working, blue-collar Americans and offers policies aligned with their values.
