Kamala can hate all she wants to, real American patriots know the truth.
On Sunday, Donald Trump’s campaign responded to accusations from Vice President Kamala Harris regarding his visit to Arlington National Cemetery. Trump’s campaign highlighted a statement from Gold Star families—relatives of fallen service members—who had invited Trump to honor their loved ones. They contended that it was Harris, not Trump, who was politicizing the sacrifices of U.S. service members, particularly in light of the 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan, which resulted in the deaths of 13 American troops.
Harris had criticized Trump’s visit as a “political stunt” that disrespected the memory of those buried at Arlington. Trump’s campaign countered that Harris, along with President Joe Biden before his recent withdrawal from the presidential race, should be held accountable for the flawed execution of the withdrawal, which led to the tragic loss of American lives.
In a statement, the Gold Star families defended Trump’s visit, asserting it was meant to pay tribute to the fallen. They emphasized that Trump was invited to participate in the solemn commemoration marking the third anniversary of their loved ones’ deaths. They accused Harris of misrepresenting the visit for political purposes.
During his visit, Trump laid wreaths in memory of Sgt. Nicole Gee, Staff Sgt. Darin Hoover, and Staff Sgt. Ryan Knauss, who were among those killed in the suicide bombing at Hamid Karzai International Airport on August 26, 2021. Trump expressed gratitude to the families for their support, stating that the visit was organized at their request and not for political maneuvering.
The situation became more contentious when defense officials claimed Trump’s campaign had been cautioned against taking photographs and reported a scuffle involving Trump’s aides and a cemetery employee. Although the employee decided not to press charges, the Trump campaign has strongly criticized Pentagon officials, labeling them as “hacks” and asserting that they had permission for video documentation.
Trump has continued to focus on the issues surrounding the Biden administration’s handling of the Afghan withdrawal, positioning himself as a leader who would have executed the operation with greater dignity and competence. He argues that while the decision to withdraw was correct, the current administration’s approach was poorly managed.
