Bill Maher Says Trump Will Lose?

On his HBO show “Real Time with Bill Maher” on Friday, comedian Bill Maher expressed his belief that former President Donald Trump is poised to lose the 2024 presidential election. Speaking with political commentator and GOP pollster Kristen Soltis Anderson and former Senator Al Franken, Maher declared, “Tonight, I’m saying, I think it’s over.” He elaborated that he’s confident in his prediction due to his past track record of skepticism towards Trump. Despite once being labeled a “Trump alarmist,” Maher had previously held onto the notion that Trump might still have a chance, even after the infamous “Access Hollywood” tape surfaced, revealing Trump’s troubling comments about women.

Soltis Anderson, however, disagreed sharply with Maher’s assessment. She countered, “I do not share your confidence in knowing how this is going to go.” According to her, the key to Trump’s potential success lies in his established persona and policy record, which continue to resonate with many voters. She pointed out that in pivotal battleground states, the competition remains fiercely close. “You look at these battleground states, they’re still 50/50,” she noted.

Recent polling data from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ supports this contention, showing Trump trailing President Harris by a narrow margin in critical states like Michigan and Pennsylvania, where the gap is less than one percent. Maher, however, remained unconvinced, predicting, “It’ll be tied on Election Day. The polls will be tied and then he’ll lose. That’s my prediction.”

Nationally, The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s polling averages indicate a close race, with Harris leading Trump by 49.5 percent to 46 percent. This data underscores the tightness of the contest, reflecting the uncertainty and ongoing intensity of the electoral battle ahead.
