Trump Bashes Kamala For Bankrupting FEMA

The Trump campaign has sharply criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for the financial troubles plaguing the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), accusing her administration of prioritizing funds for illegal immigrants over the needs of American citizens.

“FEMA is facing a funding crisis for the hurricane season because Kamala Harris chose to divert those resources to provide benefits for illegal immigrants,” said Karoline Leavitt, the Trump campaign’s national press secretary. “This is utterly unacceptable and highlights how Kamala Harris consistently puts the interests of non-citizens ahead of hardworking Americans.”

In a recent statement, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas acknowledged that FEMA can address immediate disaster response needs in the wake of Hurricane Helene, but warned that the agency lacks sufficient funds to sustain operations through the remainder of the hurricane season. “We are addressing the immediate requirements with our current resources, but we are anticipating additional storms,” Mayorkas noted during a press briefing aboard Air Force One.

Hurricane Helene recently wreaked havoc across several Southeastern states, resulting in catastrophic flooding and a tragic loss of life, underscoring the urgency of FEMA’s situation. Lawmakers from both parties have expressed that Congress may need to take swift action to pass a supplemental spending bill to bolster recovery efforts.

Despite Congress having allocated $20 billion to FEMA’s disaster relief fund through a recent stopgap spending bill, House Speaker Mike Johnson has indicated that the current congressional schedule will not be altered to address this pressing issue until after the November elections.

With the hurricane season running through November, the lack of adequate funding for disaster relief raises serious concerns among constituents in affected states. A bipartisan group of senators has even suggested that Congress might need to reconvene ahead of schedule to ensure that FEMA can effectively respond to ongoing and future emergencies.

Meanwhile, the Biden-Harris administration appears preoccupied with advancing its green initiatives, creating a perception that critical disaster response funding is being sidelined. As the administration rushes to allocate billions earmarked for climate projects, it’s crucial for leaders to prioritize the immediate needs of American communities impacted by natural disasters.

In this context, the Trump campaign’s critique of Harris and the current administration resonates with those who believe that American citizens should always come first, especially in times of crisis.
