GOP Has Kamala Playing Defense

In a recent interview with Newsmax, Matt Schlapp, Chair of the Conservative Political Action Conference, commented on Vice President Kamala Harris’ approach to her presidential campaign, stating that she appears to be in “full defense mode.” Schlapp’s analysis comes as Harris is scheduled to engage with influential figures like radio host Charlamagne tha God and Fox News anchor Bret Baier, as well as considering an appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast.

Schlapp emphasized that Harris’ attempt to connect with voters is an indication that her “hide-out strategy is not working.” He pointed out the significant drop in her support, particularly among Black male voters. “The American people are not fond of her, and even some within her own party, like Robert F. Kennedy Jr., seem to share this sentiment,” he noted.

The CPAC chair outlined Harris’ challenges with communication and likability, suggesting that her efforts are defensive rather than proactive. “The Democratic Coalition is fracturing right before our eyes, and everything she’s doing feels like damage control,” Schlapp stated during his segment on “Newsline.”

Moreover, he criticized the Democratic Party for creating a “great disconnect” with the electorate. “Americans want solutions to everyday problems,” he remarked. “They’re concerned about rising grocery prices and want inflation under control. Many are weary of sending their children into conflicts overseas, preferring instead that our leaders focus on issues within our borders.”

Schlapp concluded by highlighting a growing dissatisfaction with the current administration’s handling of immigration and border security. “Those who have come here legally are frustrated by the ongoing open border policies,” he said, underscoring a desire for stronger measures to ensure safety and stability at home.

In summary, Harris’ current campaign strategy appears to be a reaction to significant voter discontent, revealing a broader challenge for Democrats as they navigate a changing political landscape.
