Republican Traitor Addresses Rumors Of Jail

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) recently stated that he has “absolutely no worries” about President-elect Donald Trump seeking revenge by using the Justice Department to go after him or others who were critical of his actions. Kinzinger made these remarks during an appearance on CNN, following Trump’s first post-election interview on “Meet the Press,” where Trump hinted at possible legal action against those who were part of the Jan. 6 select committee, which Kinzinger served on.

Kinzinger, who chose not to seek re-election after serving seven terms in Congress, made it clear that he isn’t concerned about any potential legal repercussions from the incoming administration. “The executive branch can’t go after the legislative branch because we embarrassed him,” Kinzinger said. “That’s not a sin, that’s not against the law.” He also pointed out that many of the individuals who testified before the Jan. 6 committee were fellow Republicans, making it unlikely that Trump would target them in a politically motivated campaign.

Despite being a strong critic of Trump, Kinzinger dismissed any notion that the former president would retaliate against him or others who opposed him. “He’s just all butt hurt right now because he was embarrassed,” Kinzinger added. “He’s not going to come after us, and I’m not worried about it at all.”

With Trump’s return to the White House on the horizon, some Republicans have expressed concern that he could use the power of the presidency to go after political rivals. Trump has previously suggested he might hold accountable those he perceives as enemies, particularly in the aftermath of legal challenges. However, Kinzinger remains unfazed, stating that a second Trump term doesn’t concern him personally.

Kinzinger, one of just ten Republicans who voted to impeach Trump after the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, is among a dwindling group of GOP members who openly oppose Trump’s influence on the party. He also served alongside former Rep. Liz Cheney on the Jan. 6 committee, but Cheney lost her primary in 2022 due to her outspoken criticism of the former president. Even as Trump’s influence remains a dominant force in the Republican Party, Kinzinger’s comments highlight the deep divisions and ongoing tensions within the GOP as it looks ahead to the next presidential term.
