Bush, Obama And Clinton Insult Trump

This was pathetic.

As President-elect Donald Trump prepares to take office on January 20th, three former presidents—Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush—will not be attending the traditional inaugural luncheon following the swearing-in ceremony, as reported by NBC News.

The inaugural luncheon is a long-standing tradition dating back to 1897, when President William McKinley was honored with a meal at the U.S. Capitol. Today, it serves as a ceremonial gathering for the newly sworn-in president, members of Congress, and former presidents. The food typically reflects the new president and vice president’s home states, offering a taste of their heritage. Since 1952, this event has been a hallmark of presidential transitions, with Dwight D. Eisenhower’s luncheon being the first of its current form.

Former President Barack Obama, despite receiving an invitation, has chosen not to attend the event. Similarly, Bill Clinton, whose wife Hillary Clinton ran against Trump in 2016, also declined the invitation. George W. Bush, who did not publicly endorse any candidate in the 2020 election, reportedly did not receive an invitation to the luncheon at all.

However, all three former presidents are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony at the Capitol earlier that day, signaling a level of respect for the peaceful transfer of power, even if they do not participate in the luncheon. Their wives, with the exception of Michelle Obama, will also be present at the ceremony.

In contrast, Trump made headlines in 2021 by breaking tradition when he skipped Joe Biden’s inauguration and did not offer an invitation to Biden to visit the White House, a customary gesture for outgoing presidents. First Lady Melania Trump also did not extend a tea invitation to Dr. Jill Biden, a stark contrast to the typical welcoming practices.

As for Michelle Obama, her absence from Trump’s second inauguration is seen as a personal choice. According to sources, she has always been deliberate in her public appearances and has no obligation to “unite” around a president with whom she disagrees. Her absence, much like her public actions, speaks volumes.

Despite the tensions and some of the controversies surrounding the event, Inauguration Day will be broadcast live across major networks, and Trump has announced that the ceremony will take place indoors due to weather conditions. The day marks a new chapter in American politics, with the nation watching to see how the next administration will shape the future.
