Trump Demands For An Immediate Apology
In a scathing early morning post on Truth Social, President-elect Donald Trump criticized the New York Times for what he described as years of misleading and inaccurate coverage. He demanded that the newspaper apologize for its biased and incorrect reporting on him, accusing the Times of publishing false narratives with the intent to damage his reputation. Trump expressed frustration over what he saw as a pattern of deception, claiming that the newspaper regularly printed false information despite knowing it was wrong.
The former president also singled out Maggie Haberman, a prominent columnist for the Times who has frequently covered him. Trump dismissed her as a subpar journalist, mocking her writing and intellect. He suggested that she has consistently produced negative stories about him, despite never having much direct interaction with him. Trump also criticized Haberman’s failure to fact-check her work, implying that accuracy was never a priority for her or the Times.
Trump also took aim at the broader editorial practices of the New York Times, asserting that they had never written a fair or accurate story about him, especially in the years following his presidential victory. Despite their relentless negative coverage, Trump reminded the Times that he had won the presidency in what he called the “most consequential” election in decades, and yet the newspaper had not corrected its false narratives. He demanded an apology for the coverage he believed misrepresented his actions and achievements.
The criticism came just after Haberman and another Times journalist, Jonathan Swan, published stories about Trump’s associates, including a potential role for Trump ally Natalie Harp and allegations surrounding another advisor, Boris Epshteyn. The post highlighted the ongoing tension between Trump and the mainstream media, with the former president continuing to push back against what he views as biased and unfair reporting.
