Pelosi Throws A Fundraiser For Kamala

Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is set to headline a fundraising event for Vice President Kamala Harris this Saturday, signaling a continuing effort by Democrats to rally financial support as the 2024 election approaches. The gathering will take place in San Francisco at 6:30 p.m. local time, hosted by prominent tech leaders including Y Combinator CEO Garry Tan, Yelp CEO Jeremy Stoppelman, and Aaron Levie, CEO of Box. This event, titled “Little Tech for Harris,” is a clear indication of the Democrats’ strategy to engage the tech community in their fundraising efforts.

Pelosi is no stranger to high-profile fundraising, having previously co-hosted an event with Harris that generated over $12 million in August alone. Since President Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race and his endorsement of Harris, her campaign has reportedly raised over $615 million, a stark contrast to the fundraising efforts of her main rival, former President Donald Trump, who raised $160 million in September.

Trump has made significant strides in courting conservative tech leaders, recently raising $12 million at a fundraiser held at the home of investor and “All-In Podcast” co-host David Sacks. Additionally, he has garnered the support of influential figures like Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, who now owns the social media platform X.

As the political landscape evolves, more tech executives who previously leaned Democrat are beginning to pivot toward Republican candidates. Harris has made efforts to connect with these executives, but the tide appears to be shifting, with many recognizing the appeal of conservative policies that prioritize economic growth and innovation.

This upcoming fundraiser reflects the broader battle for the tech industry’s financial support, a critical element in the race for the presidency. With both parties vying for the backing of influential tech leaders, the stakes have never been higher as we approach the 2024 election.
