Republican Calls Out Illegal Gang Members

Rep. Greg Lopez, R-Colo., is spearheading an important legislative effort with the introduction of the Detain and Deport Gang Members Act of 2024. Lopez expressed frustration with what he termed the Biden-Harris administration’s and local leaders’ America-last policies. “It’s unacceptable that we continue to see violent foreign gangs disrupt our communities while these policies remain in place,” he noted.

The urgency of this legislation is underscored by troubling reports of Venezuelan gang members taking over an apartment complex in Aurora, Colorado. Lopez highlighted that the crime and disorder that start in sanctuary cities often spread to neighboring areas, putting families at risk.

“It’s time for leaders at all levels to confront the conditions that foster drug trafficking and gang violence,” Lopez asserted. “We must focus on detaining and deporting illegal immigrants with gang ties, rather than allowing them to remain in our country. The American public deserves a government that prioritizes their safety over the comfort of those who break our laws.”
