Graham Turns On Trump Again?

Here’s what Graham has receommneded.

Senator Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., sent a stark warning to his fellow Republicans on Sunday, urging them to prioritize national security over tax cuts. In an interview with Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, Graham emphasized that failing to take immediate action on a reconciliation bill that addresses President Donald Trump’s core priorities, especially border security, could lead to a “nightmare” for the nation.

“I’m very concerned that if we don’t secure the border first, it will become a national security disaster,” Graham stated. He underscored the critical need to address illegal immigration, noting that millions of undocumented immigrants are currently in the country, and President Trump’s promise to deport them is something that must be fulfilled.

Graham pointed to the significant financial burden of mass deportations, estimated at $100 billion, and acknowledged that gaining bipartisan support for such an effort would be challenging. However, he was clear about his stance: “I’m willing to find budget offsets to cover this cost, but there’s no way the Democrats will ever agree to provide $100 billion for deportation efforts.”

The senator also connected the delay in border security measures to the worsening crises facing the nation, from the rise in fentanyl-related deaths to the ongoing threat of terrorism. “Every day we delay, we put the American people at greater risk,” Graham warned.

Turning to the 2017 tax cuts, which are set to expire soon, Graham stressed the importance of protecting them. “These cuts amount to $4.7 trillion, and if they expire, they could seriously harm the economy,” he said. While he expressed his support for the tax cuts, he made it clear that securing the nation’s borders should be the top priority. “To those advocating for tax cuts, I’m with you, but if you make border security conditional on those cuts, you’re gambling with our national security.”

In essence, Graham’s message was clear: national security must come first, or America could face severe consequences.
