Marine Veteran Calls Out Kamala’s VP

Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears (R-VA) has taken Governor Tim Walz (D-MN) to task over past remarks he made about his National Guard service, particularly challenging his claims related to combat experience. Walz’s comments, highlighted by the Kamala Harris campaign, come from a 2018 statement where he spoke against gun violence and remarked on “weapons of war, that I carried in war,” suggesting a level of combat experience. However, Earle-Sears, a Marine Corps veteran, has pointed out that Walz has never actually served in a combat zone.

On Fox News’s Jesse Watters Primetime, Earle-Sears expressed her frustration, emphasizing that many veterans and their families—especially those who have experienced the harsh realities of combat and its psychological toll—might find Walz’s comments deeply offensive. “Forget about me,” Earle-Sears said. “The real issue is the families and service members who have endured real combat, those suffering from PTSD, and facing a crisis of veteran suicides. For Walz to speak of carrying weapons in war when he never served in such conditions is misleading and disrespectful.”

Earle-Sears also criticized Walz for leaving the National Guard under what she described as questionable circumstances, noting that he departed just before a scheduled deployment. According to former Minnesota National Guard Command Sgt. Maj. Doug Julin, Walz used a “backdoor process” to exit the military, which added to the controversy surrounding his service record.

In a broader political context, Earle-Sears discussed strategies for the Republican Party to win in Virginia in the upcoming 2024 election. She emphasized a focus on substantial policy issues, such as energy independence and inflation, rather than just campaign rhetoric. She criticized Vice President Kamala Harris and highlighted the need to hold her accountable on these critical topics.

Governor Glenn Youngkin (R-VA), who has been pivotal in Virginia’s political landscape, previously advocated for a strategy to improve Republican performance in Northern Virginia, which he believed contributed to his 2021 victory. Recently, Youngkin has taken steps to ensure election security in the state, issuing an executive order to safeguard legal voters and accurate counts. This move has garnered praise from former President Donald Trump, who continues to assert that the 2020 election results were not legitimate.

As Youngkin is limited to a single term and will not seek re-election in 2025, Earle-Sears is emerging as a leading candidate to succeed him. Polls from April indicate that she holds a significant lead over Attorney General Jason Miyares (R-VA), positioning her as a strong contender for the gubernatorial race.
