Chelsea Clinton Mocks Trump Family

Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and ex-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, recently took to social media to respond to speculation about her political ambitions and dismiss tabloid rumors. The New York Post published a report on Friday suggesting that Chelsea Clinton is seeking a diplomatic role, such as an ambassadorship to the U.K. or France, contingent on Vice President Kamala Harris winning the 2024 presidential election against former President Donald Trump.

The New York Post article, citing unnamed sources, suggested that the Clintons’ early endorsement of Harris was a strategic move to secure such a position for Chelsea. An anonymous source remarked that the Clintons were “currying favor” with Harris to benefit their daughter’s career.

Donald Trump Jr., who often criticizes the Clintons and their associates, shared this story online, reacting with a sense of disbelief marked by “shocked” and eye-roll emojis on X (formerly Twitter). Chelsea Clinton responded to Trump Jr. with a sharp retort, dismissing the New York Post’s story and highlighting the implausibility of such claims. In her response, she expressed her enthusiasm for Harris’s potential victory, adding, “Can’t wait to elect Vice President Kamala Harris as our next POTUS … and keep living in New York City.”

The New York Post’s claims, which have not been substantiated by independent sources, include input from a longtime British embassy official who suggested that Chelsea might aspire to an ambassadorial role, though noted she is currently considered too junior for such a position. Chelsea, who has previously studied in the U.K. at Oxford University, has been involved in philanthropic work as vice chair of the Clinton Foundation.

A friend of the Clintons refuted the idea that their support for Harris was intended to benefit Chelsea’s career, asserting that Chelsea is genuinely supportive of Harris and dedicated to her election campaign. If Harris wins in November, she would achieve a historic milestone as the first female president of the United States, as well as the first Asian and second Black president in U.S. history.
