Trump’s AG Picks Up Major Endorsement
In a bold move showing his continued commitment to law enforcement, President-elect Donald Trump received a significant endorsement for his pick for Attorney General, Pam Bondi. The nation’s largest police union, the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), threw its weight behind Bondi just ahead of her Senate confirmation hearings, citing her extensive experience and unwavering support for police officers.
In a letter to the Trump transition team, FOP National President Patrick Yoes praised Bondi as “a longtime ally” of law enforcement, highlighting her track record as Florida’s Attorney General. Yoes emphasized the FOP’s eagerness to collaborate with Bondi to advance programs that support state and local law enforcement while fostering strong partnerships between local and federal agencies. The union, representing over 377,000 members, expressed confidence that Bondi’s leadership would strengthen the Department of Justice’s role in combating crime and protecting American communities.
Trump nominated Bondi for the Attorney General position in November, following former Rep. Matt Gaetz’s decision to withdraw from consideration. Bondi’s qualifications and deep-rooted connection to law enforcement were underscored by her key role as a senior adviser on Trump’s defense team during his first impeachment trial. Bondi has been a steadfast advocate for law and order, aligning herself with Trump on numerous occasions, including showing her support at his New York trial in 2023.
“Pam Bondi’s decades of experience in law enforcement make her uniquely qualified to lead the Department of Justice,” said Trump-Vance transition spokesperson Gates McGavick. “She will be a fierce defender of law enforcement, fighting crime, restoring order, and ensuring that our justice system works for all Americans.”
This endorsement follows the FOP’s support of Trump during the 2024 election and his promise to strengthen protections for police officers, crack down on radical prosecutors, and implement tough-on-crime policies like stop-and-frisk. As America faces increasing crime rates and lawlessness in many cities, the FOP’s backing signals a powerful commitment to returning the nation’s focus to law and order.
