Left Says Kamala Deserves More Credit?

Radio host Charlamagne tha God recently shared his thoughts on Vice President Kamala Harris’s role in the 2024 presidential campaign, claiming she deserves far more recognition for bringing a “dead” campaign back to life. Speaking to ABC News’s Jonathan Karl on “This Week,” Charlamagne emphasized how Harris helped reinvigorate a flagging effort that seemed on the verge of collapse.

“The campaign was dead,” Charlamagne bluntly stated. “With Biden, it was over.” His remarks referred to the fact that President Joe Biden’s campaign appeared to stall following his lackluster performance in a key debate earlier this year, where concerns about his age and mental sharpness became major talking points. Charlamagne acknowledged the jokes surrounding Biden’s stamina, even referencing the “Weekend at Bernie’s” meme, which suggested Biden was effectively a “corpse” on the campaign trail. “He damn near was,” Charlamagne added, alluding to the perception that Biden had little energy or momentum.

Enter Kamala Harris, who the radio host credits with shaking things up. “She made people sit up and pay attention,” he said, noting that her energy and engagement brought new life to the campaign, sparking curiosity among voters who may have been tuning out.

Despite Harris’s efforts to breathe new life into the race, she ultimately lost in the election, which saw President-elect Trump secure a second term. Charlamagne was quick to praise Harris for the challenge she took on, pointing out that she ran a strong campaign in just 100 days after Biden’s exit. “She ran a great campaign,” he said, acknowledging the difficult circumstances.

In her concession speech, Harris expressed gratitude for the campaign and affirmed her belief in the fight it represented. “While I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign,” she said, encouraging Americans to accept the results and stay hopeful for the future.

Though the outcome wasn’t in her favor, Charlamagne’s comments suggest that Harris’s efforts should be remembered for the energy and direction she brought to a floundering Democratic campaign.
