Kamala Team Attacks Christians

Take a good long look at the Kamala administration folks.

This week, the Harris-Walz campaign announced the appointment of Rev. Jennifer Butler as their new national faith engagement director. Butler, a well-known liberal activist, brings with her a history of very controversial views and a strong commitment to progressive causes.

Rev. Butler has been a vocal critic of what she perceives as the misuse of Christianity for political purposes. In 2022, she controversially stated that Christianity had been “hijacked by white supremacists” and urged Christians to reclaim their faith from those who she believes distort it for harmful ends. She is a minister in the U.S. Presbyterian Church and the founder of Faith in Public Life, an organization dedicated to promoting a vision of justice that emphasizes inclusivity and equity.

On social media, Butler expressed enthusiasm for her new role with the Harris-Walz campaign, writing, “I am excited about my new role with #HarrisWalz2024!” She emphasized her belief that this campaign represents an opportunity to challenge what she describes as “Maga Christianity,” which she argues undermines essential freedoms.

Butler has been critical of Christian nationalism, asserting that it threatens both faith and democracy. She has urged Christians to actively oppose what she views as the religious justification of oppression, a perspective she outlined in a 2022 op-ed. In her view, the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade exemplifies the misuse of faith for political ends, a stance she reinforced in an interview with MSNBC.

Further reflecting her views, Butler has criticized pro-life positions, suggesting they are often a cover for racist and anti-regulation agendas. She has also supported Critical Race Theory (CRT) as a necessary framework for understanding faith and justice, a position she shared on social media.

In the past, Butler has been actively involved in protests, including a 2017 demonstration against Republican attempts to repeal parts of the Affordable Care Act. Her appointment to the Harris-Walz campaign underscores a continued commitment to leveraging faith-based advocacy in pursuit of progressive political goals.
