Despite Rep. Jared Moskowitz’s attempts to criticize the House’s decision not to impeach President Joe Biden, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky., clarified in a recent interview that his primary objective has never been impeachment. Instead, Comer’s focus is on uncovering the truth behind the Biden family’s alleged influence-peddling activities.
In his appearance on “Wake Up America,” Comer discussed a contentious exchange with Moskowitz during a recent committee hearing. He emphasized that the discussion aimed to highlight significant issues such as waste and fraud within the federal government. Comer pointed out that Moskowitz’s comments were an attempt to undermine the investigation’s legitimacy, asserting, “Moskowitz is more interested in seeking attention than contributing meaningfully to the conversation.”
Comer defended the Oversight Committee’s work, noting that it led to serious revelations about Hunter Biden’s legal troubles, including the plea deal that emerged partly due to the committee’s investigations. “We’ve exposed how the Bidens have funneled millions through a network of shell companies,” he said. “According to IRS whistleblowers, they didn’t pay taxes on these funds, which raises significant ethical questions.”
While acknowledging that Biden has committed actions warranting impeachment, Comer also pointed out the practical challenges of such a move. He indicated that even if there were support for impeachment, the Senate is unlikely to take action, stating, “We impeached Secretary Mayorkas, and the Senate ignored us.” He underscored the necessity for Republican unity, as some party members resist taking decisive actions.
Ultimately, Comer reaffirmed that the goal of the Oversight Committee is to inform the American public about potential corruption at the highest levels of government. “We’ve made significant strides in revealing the truth,” he concluded, stressing the importance of accountability and transparency.
