Liz Cheney Has New Target After Trump

Liz Cheney is losing her mind.

Former Representative Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) recently took a strong stance against Senator JD Vance (R-Ohio) following his comments about the 2020 election certification. During a Monday appearance at the “All-In Podcast” summit, Vance was questioned multiple times about whether he would have certified the 2020 election results if he had been in former Vice President Mike Pence’s position on January 6, 2021.

In his response, Vance suggested that he would have demanded alternative slates of electors from the states, implying he would not have certified the results as they were. He repeated this stance when pressed further, stating, “I would have asked the states to submit alternative slates of electors. That’s what I would have done.”

Cheney sharply criticized Vance’s position in a post on X, labeling his proposal as both “illegal” and “unconstitutional.” She emphasized that the proper procedures were followed: the American people voted, the courts ruled, the Electoral College met and voted, and the governors certified the results, sending a legal slate of electors to Congress. According to Cheney, the Vice President has no constitutional authority to challenge or alter these certified results based on personal or partisan preferences. She argued that such actions would equate to “tyranny.”

Cheney also highlighted the dangerous context of January 6, noting that some rioters were demanding Pence reject certain slates of electors, while others were violently threatening him. She commended Pence for upholding his constitutional duties despite immense pressure and threats, thus preserving the integrity of U.S. institutions.

Cheney expressed grave concerns that Vance, if elected Vice President, might not uphold similar principles. She accused Vance of being willing to violate the Constitution to align with former President Trump’s wishes. “Our institutions survived January 6 because Mike Pence upheld his oath to the Constitution. Vance, however, seems prepared to ignore it. Both he and Trump are a threat to our democracy, and it is crucial that we stand against them,” Cheney concluded.
