Hannity recounted that once the Secret Service confirmed that everyone was safe and unharmed, Trump expressed his disappointment about the interruption. “When the president learned that everyone was alright … he told me, ‘Ugh, I really wanted to finish the hole. I was even and had a birdie putt, and it was … on the fifth,’” Hannity told Fox News anchor Arthel Neville. “It was on the fifth hole, which shows a lot of courage and determination—very much in line with what you’d expect from Trump.”

Hannity also noted that he had spoken with Trump multiple times since the incident and received real-time updates from law enforcement. The investigation quickly leveraged drone technology to identify the suspect’s vehicle. “Drone footage provided crucial surveillance, enabling authorities to pinpoint the exact car the shooter used,” Hannity elaborated. “The identification of the car happened in under thirty minutes from the shooting.”

The suspect, identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, had fled the scene, leaving behind an AK-47-style rifle. Secret Service agents had observed the rifle from a significant distance, which contributed to the swift resolution of the situation.

Trump expressed his gratitude to law enforcement in a social media post later that night. He thanked the U.S. Secret Service, Sheriff Ric Bradshaw, and all law enforcement personnel for their prompt and effective response. In a follow-up interview, Trump attributed the attack to the inflammatory rhetoric from President Biden and Vice President Harris. “Their rhetoric is fueling attacks against me while they are the ones undermining our nation from within,” Trump stated.

Following the incident, leaders of a bipartisan congressional task force, which was established after a previous assassination attempt against Trump, requested a briefing from the Secret Service on the latest developments.
