In a surprising new change, the Donald Trump campaign has highlighted the significance of daily prayers in their routine following the recent assassination attempt on the former president. As Trump prepares for his first outdoor rally since the attack, the campaign has emphasized the role of prayer in their daily lives, reflecting a deep sense of faith and hope for the president’s safety.
A campaign official shared with The Post during a press briefing in West Palm Beach that, despite their strong confidence in the Secret Service’s protective efforts, daily prayers have become an integral part of their strategy. “We offer our prayers every day,” the official said. “We trust that the Secret Service is taking all necessary precautions, but our faith and prayers are crucial.”
Trump’s upcoming rally in Bozeman, Montana, is set for Friday evening. While Montana is not a key battleground state, Trump’s team views this event as a chance to support Republican candidates, including Senate contender Tim Sheehy, who is facing a tough challenge against Democratic Senator Jon Tester.
The shooting incident on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Trump was injured by a bullet fired by 20-year-old Matthew Crooks from a nearby rooftop, has profoundly impacted the campaign. The attack resulted in the death of firefighter Corey Comparatore and injuries to attendees David Dutch and James Copenhaver.
The Trump campaign official noted that despite the traumatic event, Trump’s team has found solace in their daily prayers. “Trump is deeply moved by the tragedy and continues to honor the victims,” the official said. “He feels blessed to be alive and attributes his recovery, in part, to the power of prayer.”
Trump, who wore a bandage on his ear following the shooting, has since removed it and showed no visible signs of injury during a press conference at Mar-a-Lago in Florida. He confirmed his recovery is progressing well and expressed gratitude for the prayers and support he has received throughout this difficult time.
