Lara Trump, serving as the newly appointed co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), recently discussed the strategic focus of the RNC leading up to the 2024 general election during an interview on Fox News’s Mornings with Maria hosted by Maria Bartiromo.
Emphasizing the critical nature of all states in the election process, Lara Trump underscored the significance of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin as key battlegrounds for the Republican Party. These states are particularly targeted to enhance the reelection prospects of former President Donald Trump.
“Pennsylvania is absolutely one of those states,” Lara Trump affirmed, pointing out the importance of states like Arizona and Wisconsin in the upcoming campaign.
Recent polling data reveals a varied landscape in these battlegrounds. While President Joe Biden holds a considerable lead over Donald Trump in Pennsylvania, the former president maintains an edge in Arizona, the sole battleground state along the southern border. Wisconsin presents a close race, with Biden holding a slight lead over Trump.
Trump expressed optimism about reclaiming Michigan, a state pivotal to his 2016 victory, citing a recent poll showing him ahead of Biden by three percentage points. Notably, independents in Michigan lean toward Trump, indicating a competitive landscape.
Georgia emerged as another focal point, with Trump narrowly leading Biden in a state that witnessed a historic Democratic flip in 2020. Amid concerns regarding Biden’s ability to retain Georgia, attention is also drawn to neighboring North Carolina, identified as a potential flip state by the Biden campaign.
Governor Roy Cooper of North Carolina advocated for prioritizing his state over Georgia in the current political climate. However, Lara Trump did not delve into discussions regarding North Carolina or Nevada, both of which are significant in the Biden campaign’s strategy to maintain Democratic control.
