Will Trump still keep his momentum surging? Lets hope so!
One of the longstanding faces of former President Donald Trump’s campaign bid farewell recently. Liz Harrington, who served as Trump’s chief spokeswoman for nearly four years, officially parted ways with the campaign, a reliable source confirmed to Newsweek on Wednesday.
Harrington entered the Trump team’s fold in June 2021, stepping into the shoes of Jason Miller. Her departure last month, as per the source, raises questions, yet the precise motive remains undisclosed.
Trump himself lauded Harrington’s tenacity, acknowledging her role in the historic voter turnout during his presidency. A vocal advocate for Trump’s claims of electoral fraud, Harrington transitioned from her stint as a spokesperson for the Republican National Committee (RNC) to assume the mantle from Kayleigh McEnany, who moved to the Trump White House as press secretary.
Before her political engagements, Harrington trod the path of conservative journalism, contributing to outlets like Steve Bannon’s War Room and the Washington Free Beacon. Her entry into Trump’s inner circle was heralded as a privilege of unmatched magnitude.
In the context of a Washington Post report linking her to an election-related document shared by Trump on social media, Harrington’s departure draws added attention. Her absence from X, formerly known as Twitter, since last month has not gone unnoticed, with numerous users inquiring about her whereabouts.
Harrington’s exit coincides with a broader reshuffling within the RNC. Recent developments saw Trump-aligned advisers initiating significant layoffs following their assumption of control over the committee. Over 60 officials spanning various departments, including political, communications, and data, faced termination or were requested to reapply for their positions. Notably, senior figures bore the brunt of the restructuring.
The transition of leadership at the RNC witnessed Michael Whatley and Lara Trump assuming pivotal roles as chair and co-chair, respectively, with Trump’s backing. The endorsement by Trump also ushered in Chris LaCivita as the new chief of staff, marking a significant shift from the prior administration led by Ronna McDaniel.
McDaniel’s resignation, attributed to financial mismanagement and electoral setbacks, underscored the evolving dynamics within the Republican apparatus. Endorsed by Trump in 2017 and bearing ties to Republican stalwart Mitt Romney, McDaniel’s departure signaled a departure from the status quo, prompting a recalibration of leadership priorities within the RNC.
