VIDEO: Trump’s Final Warning To Voters

Trump has issued a warning to all voters.

During a recent campaign event in Las Vegas on September 13th, former President Donald Trump made a shocking claim about Vice President Kamala Harris. According to Trump, Harris is allegedly considering reinstating the draft in the United States, a move he described as highly concerning. “Does anybody want to get drafted?” Trump asked the audience, who responded with a chorus of boos. He continued, asserting that Harris is intent on “bringing back the draft and sending your children into unnecessary wars.”

A review of Vice President Harris’s official policy statements and campaign platform reveals no plans or proposals to reintroduce the draft at the moment but that could change at any time. Her campaign focuses on maintaining the strength of the U.S. military and ensuring the well-being of service members, veterans, and their families. Harris’s campaign site emphasizes her commitment to preserving American military superiority, advancing innovation, and upholding global leadership. She also pledges to support service members and their families by ensuring they receive the benefits they’ve earned.

Mike Lavigne, an Army veteran and senior advisor to VoteVets, a progressive veterans’ organization, clarified the situation for Newsweek. Lavigne dismissed Trump’s claims as baseless, pointing out that the Selective Service System, which maintains a list of potential draftees, has been in place for over a century and is not an active draft. The Selective Service System is merely a registry that could be used to quickly recruit personnel if a draft were ever authorized by Congress and the President—a scenario that Harris has not proposed.

It’s worth noting that the United States ended its draft in 1973. The current Selective Service System is a contingency measure designed to ensure rapid mobilization if necessary, not an active draft. Trump himself was subject to draft notices during the Vietnam War but avoided service through student deferments and a medical exemption for bone spurs.
