Trump’s New Plan Makes Democrats Cry

A lot of Americans love this idea.

Former President Donald Trump has made a bold commitment to rename Fort Liberty back to its original title of Fort Bragg if he regains the presidency. During a recent town hall in North Carolina, Trump posed the question to the crowd, “Should we change the name from Fort Liberty back to Fort Bragg?” The response was met with enthusiastic applause from attendees in Fayetteville, reflecting a strong sentiment for the return to the historical name. Trump assured his audience, “So here’s what we do: We get elected. I’m doing it.”

This promise comes in the wake of a 2021 decision by the U.S. military to rename nine military installations, including Fort Bragg, in a move driven by a mandate to remove the names of Confederate figures. This renaming process was initiated following nationwide protests in the summer of 2020, sparked by the tragic events surrounding George Floyd.

Fort Bragg, named after Confederate General Braxton Bragg, was originally designated in an effort to garner support from Southern states during World War I. Military historian Victor Davis Hanson explained that the naming was not intended to glorify figures associated with racism, but rather as a strategic approach to secure bipartisan support for military funding and to foster healing in the post-Civil War era. He also noted that while Bragg’s military effectiveness was questionable, the decision was rooted in a broader historical context.

Trump reinforced his stance when discussing military readiness and missile defense, asserting that he had a “secret” to winning elections by prioritizing traditional values and restoring a strong, non-woke military culture. “We have a great military,” he stated. “You may have a few people at the top who are woke, and we’re going to get rid of them so fast your head is going to spin.” His promise to restore the name of Fort Bragg resonates with a Republican base that values military tradition and heritage.
