Reagan Alumni Voting For Kamala?

In a surprising development, seventeen former Republican officials who served under President Ronald Reagan have announced their endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris for President, as highlighted in a recent campaign press release. The statement reflects their belief that if President Reagan were alive today, he would have supported the Harris-Walz ticket.

Drawing on Reagan’s iconic “Time for Choosing” speech, these former Reagan-era officials argue that his principles of integrity and strong leadership align with Harris’s vision for the country. They contend that Reagan’s values of truth and freedom resonate with the Harris-Walz platform, marking it as the best path forward for America’s future.

The list of endorsers includes notable figures such as Kenneth Adelman, who served as Reagan’s ambassador to the United Nations and U.S. arms control director; Carol Adelman, a former assistant administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development; Elizabeth Board, a former deputy assistant to the president for communications; B. Jay Cooper, a former deputy assistant to President Reagan and deputy White House press secretary under President George H. W. Bush; and Pete Souza, Reagan’s official White House photographer, among others.

This endorsement comes in the wake of a similar show of support for Harris from over 230 former staffers of Republican Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, as well as from figures connected to presidential nominees like Senator Mitt Romney and the late Senator John McCain.

The Harris campaign has actively sought to highlight bipartisan support, including featuring Republican endorsers prominently at the Democratic National Convention. Notably, former Representative Liz Cheney and former Vice President Dick Cheney have also endorsed Harris, further underscoring a significant crossover in political support.

This endorsement from Reagan-era Republicans emphasizes a pivotal moment in the political landscape, as these influential figures call for a reevaluation of traditional party lines in favor of what they see as a more principled choice for America’s future.
