Trump Campaign Brining Who Back?
Corey Lewandowski, who previously managed Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign, is rejoining the effort for Trump’s 2024 presidential bid. The Trump campaign has announced Lewandowski’s return, along with other key veterans from Trump’s past campaigns, including Taylor Budowich, Alex Bruesewitz, Alex Pfeiffer, and Tim Murtaugh.
In a statement, Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita, the campaign managers for Trump’s 2024 run, highlighted their strategy of bolstering the campaign team as the election draws near. “We’re continually strengthening our team with experienced professionals who know how to win,” they noted.
Lewandowski, who has been a trusted advisor to Trump since the 2016 victory, is joined by Tim Murtaugh, who served as communications director during Trump’s 2020 campaign. Alex Pfeiffer, Alex Bruesewitz, and Taylor Budowich all held significant roles at MAGA Inc., bringing their expertise back into the fold.
According to Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung, “Their unparalleled experience will be crucial in making the case against Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, who represent the most extreme ticket in American politics today.”
This strategic shift aims to counter the recent momentum of Vice President Kamala Harris, who secured the Democratic nomination after President Joe Biden’s withdrawal. Lewandowski remarked to Reuters last week that the dynamics of the race have shifted, expressing confidence in their ability to challenge Biden effectively. “We had a strong strategy against Biden, and now our focus is on Harris, who has shown significant vulnerabilities, especially in her handling of issues like illegal immigration,” he stated.
In 2021, Lewandowski faced allegations of making unwanted advances towards a donor’s wife while working with a pro-Trump super PAC. These allegations were resolved through counseling, a fine, and community service, and Lewandowski has since continued to be a supportive figure in Trump’s political sphere.
